Get Your Swirl On During The Holidays With These 3 Tips!

December 10, 2015 By Michelle Matthews-Calloway Leave a Comment

shareasimageIRCoupleDinner

All right, Ladies and Gentlemen, the holidays are in full swing!

So, you wanna get your Swirl on during the holidays?

Then check out the 3 easy tips I recently shared for those who want to get their swirl on during the holidays – and beyond.

The audio from this podcast was taken from a Periscope I did a couple of days before Thanksgiving.

(So, are you following me on Periscope yet? If not, what are you waiting for?)
shareasimagePeriscope

I refer to Thanksgiving in the audio, but these tips are good for Christmas, the upcoming presidential election season – basically, all year round.

I encourage you to implement 1, 2 or 3 of the tips. You’ll be getting your Swirl on in no time!

If you can’t see the podcast player, click here or here.

If you can’t see the Sound Cloud player, click here. You can also head over and listen to the show on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, Spreaker or PlayerFM.

Shout Out!

The Shout Out! for Podcast Episode 94 goes to the dynamic, ubiquitous powerhouse Michelle Y. Talbert of the Her Power Hustle website and podcast. Michelle also recently launched a new start-up: Her Power List!

According to the HPL website, “Her Power List is the ONLY women-led business directory that enables you to locate the goods and services that you seek.

With a simple click of your mouse, you can connect with the owner on your favorite social media platforms–from LinkedIn to Periscope, watch her share helpful information with you in a video, peruse a gallery of pictures, download resources (like a free chapter of her most recent book) and shoot her an email to ask a question.

For those HPL Listers who provide in-person service, you can map their location with our Google map function – straight from the HPL Listing!”

Michelle made The Swirl World a featured business during the first week of her launch, and we couldn’t be more honored.

We wish Michelle all the best in this new business venture – and we’re proud to call her friend.

Join in the Fray: Are you going to get your Swirl on during the holidays? If you use any of the tips, send me an email at aswirlgirl@theswirlworld.com. I’d love to feature you on the blog!

A Brown Girl In An Anime World

October 19, 2015 By Michelle Matthews-Calloway Leave a Comment

ShareanMart-print

Anime

noun an·i·me \ˈa-nə-ˌmā, ˈä-nē-\ : a style of animation that was created in Japan and that uses colorful images, strong characters, and stories that have a lot of action

Anime is taking the world by storm, and many of us find it fascinating.

I’m especially intrigued by women involved in anime and the involvement of Black women in particular.

Imagine my delight to discover and interview anime artist and comic-book creator Sharean Morishita of S.K.Y. Art & Design and the S-Morishita Studio.

Sharean chats about growing up as an awkward Black girl in a single-parent household, and how she found and makes her mark in the art world.

She also gives us the back story on her husband’s last name!

We Love Lorraine Spencer

Adrienne and I hold the utmost respect and admiration for Lorraine Spencer, an interracial blogger and pioneer in the IR blogging space.

Lorraine SpencerLorraine is a wife, mother, blogger, author and mentor.

She doesn’t brag on her connections or accomplishments, but she’s worked with the imitable IR blogging pioneer Evia Moore, publisher of  Black Female Interracial Marriage (considered one of the “Mother Ships” of Black women’s interracial blogs).

Lorraine has also worked with Karyn Langhone-Folan, best-selling author of “Don’t Bring Home A White Boy” fame.

Lorraine is the author of two children’s books; The Spider In My Mommy’s Car and I Like Polka Dots On My Pizza.

Spices, Anyone?

In this podcast episode, Lorraine drops knowledge about “Bitter Spices” that can ruin your relationship. Wanna know what they are?? Tune in to find out!
