#231| Concentrate

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

I challenge you to take a few minutes to clear your mind.

I say “take a few minutes,” because for many of us, clearing our mind can take a little time.

Once your mind is cleared, focus.

After focusing, kick things up a notch, and concentrate.

If you mind tries to race ahead – or if it tries to reflect back – rein it in and think about now.

Concentrate.

Concentrate on the here and now, placing your mind, thoughts and energy squarely in the moment.

#229| Here’s Looking At You!

I’d be hard pressed to find anyone over the age of 20 (OK, 30 for sure!) who hasn’t heard the classic line, “Here’s looking at you, kid.”

The line is from the classic movie Casablanca starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

Though we’re not toasting in the same manner as Bogart, we’re still sending good cheer as the new week begins.

Whether you’re employed 9-to-5, an online entrepreneur, stay-at-home Mom or basking in retirement, here’s looking at you as you enjoy a solid week of wins.

It’s Friday, and that means it’s “date night” for many singles and couples alike.

Maybe you’re going on a first date – or you’re being brave and going out on a blind date.

Maybe you’ve got your babysitter locked down and you’re all set for some “us time” with the hubby or your significant other.

You may be headed out for dinner and a movie or staying in and kicking back.

Whatever date night means to you or looks like for you, simply make sure you do this one thing: Enjoy!

“Don’t get too intimate too quickly!”

Call us old-fashioned if you want to, yet we’ve seen too many times the end result of what happens when this advice is ignored.

In this Unscripted episode, Gynger Fyer, Adrienne Leach and I chat about a variety of topics: Closure, Stalking, Baby Mamas – and why women shouldn’t get too intimate too quickly.

Now, don’t get me wrong; I’m totally here for a killer lipstick and great mascara. A light dusting of blush on the apples of my cheeks gives a subtle flush of color.

Combine those elements with my natural curls and I’m pretty much good to go.

Whether you add a few more steps (or none at all) the important component to always have on point is the inner self.

Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes.

#117| One Step At A Time

Confession:

I used to have a major problem with impatience.

Life seemed to move much too slowly, and at every turn the term “Hurry up and wait!” was the order of the day.

Thankfully I’ve grown and matured enough to recognize the value of allowing many things to take their natural course, recognizing that some of those things do get better with time.

Realizing goals is like that.

I learned that in order to attain what I wanted and get where I wanted to go, I had to be willing to put in the time – and in many instances, to wait.

I didn’t have to become impatient or worry. As long as I was consistent and “did the work,” I would achieve my goals.

So, take a deep breath, plan your work, and then work your plan.

There’s no limit to what we can achieve when we take things one step at a time.
