#363| A Going On

December 29, 2015 By Michelle Matthews-Calloway Leave a Comment

shareasimageYearsEnd

A going on.

What a novel way to think of the New Year!

I like the idea of viewing entering 2016 as “a going on,” with me carrying my wisdom and experiences with me.

Going on to living more in the moment; to slowing down long enough to take everything in.

Going on to better and richer experiences.

Going on to become a better person. To help more. To serve more.

To love more.

Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.

#362| What Will You Bring To The New Year?

December 28, 2015 By Michelle Matthews-Calloway 1 Comment

shareasimageNewYear

Have you ever heard the term “church hopping?”

The term references people who “hop” from church to church in a vain attempt to find utopia.

The church hopper doesn’t deal with or face the problems inherent in his personality or outlook on life.

Instead, he believes that changing his environment is the answer. He tries to change the outside, yet does no changing on the inside.

And therein lays the trouble: if the church was a utopia, it loses its utopian status with the arrival of the church hopper.

Why? Because the church hopper brings his dysfunction into his new church environment!

Side note: The same analogy can be used for people who relationship hop. I’m just saying.

I’m sure you get where I’m going with this.

As Vern McLellan so simply and eloquently states:

What the New Year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the New Year.
Click To Tweet

What Will You Bring?

So, what will you bring to the New Year?

I’m all for taking a good, earnest and honest look inward. Next up is letting go of any dysfunction, and then tossing out the things in my life that no longer serve me.

The New Year offers a clean slate (shucks, when you think about it, every new day does that!).

Let’s go into 2016 sans the baggage.

And if we do any hopping, let us hop on to bigger and better things!

5 Steps To Take If You’re Feeling Lonely

December 28, 2015 By Michelle Matthews-Calloway Leave a Comment

shareasimageWhatDoTheLonelyDo

Are you feeling lonely or know someone who is?

In an audio excerpt derived from a Periscope recorded on Christmas Eve, I asked the question, “What do the lonely do at Christmas?”

I answered the question by sharing 5 steps that can make a difference in dealing with loneliness – whether from the lack of a relationship or the loss of a loved one.

(So, are you following me on Periscope yet? If not, what are you waiting for?)

I refer to Christmas in the audio, but these tips are good basically all year round.
