#178| Get Some Therapy!

So, what’s your “therapy?”

For some, it’s binging on movies. For others, it’s poking around in a garden, scouring flea markets or chasing yard sales. Others enjoy curling up with the latest NYT bestseller, checking out a trendy vegan restaurant or enjoying a latte in their favorite coffee shop.

Whatever your therapy of choice, we trust you’ll have the time – no, make the time – this weekend to indulge.

I need to get some therapy; how about you?

#176| What Is Life Without Adventure?

It’s Travel Thursday, and I’m excited to present Ed and Lani Renee Priolo, a recently married couple who embody a travel lifestyle.

When speaking of his wife and their life together, Ed says,

“My wife, Lani Renee Priolo, and I got married May 29th down in New Orleans. She’s African-American and Korean, and I’m Italian German. We’ve been together for six years. We’re both from New Jersey but we got out years ago. We try to live in a different place every year or two. Lani is my soul mate and best friend; I couldn’t imagine life without the adventure she brings.”

Ed says he and Lani Renee “try to live in a different place every year or two.”

Imagine that!

A travel lifestyle can be attained in more ways than one. Though many of us don’t have the same level of flexibility frequency in selecting and changing home bases enjoyed by Ed and Lani, we can be inspired by them.

Ed says he can’t “imagine life without the adventure” Lani brings to his life.

And what is life without adventure? Get out there and travel!

#169| Too Much Fun

At some point during each day I head over to this site to review the post(s).

I check to see how the photos turn out, think about how I should have made them larger or smaller and review the post.

Yesterday I gasped, and then giggled when I saw what I had done:

I’d put up a Travel Thursday post – and yesterday was Wednesday.

What Had Happened Was . . . .

See, what had happened was, I was excited about sharing the photo of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai and eagerly prepared the post.

I was supposed to set that one to post for Thursday and post something else for Wednesday – well, you get the picture.

Making Mistak3s .. . .

I giggled when I saw yesterday’s post, and then laughed at myself because the snafu wasn’t the first one I’ve made since I began these daily posts.

I’ve gotten my count incorrect, and after making that mistake a few times between January and February, I went out and purchased a calendar that shows the number of the current day in the year, and how many days remain.

With that calendar in hand my mistakes became fewer – but I still made them.

In the upper right hand corner, you see that today is the 169th day of the year and we have 196 remaining days in 2015. (I also have sorority meeting tonight at 6 p.m.)

What I Learned

I’m a perfectionist at heart, yet I’m so happy I’ve reached a point in my life that I can literally LAUGH at myself when things don’t turn out . . . . Perfectly.

Instead of being ticked, I’m tickled that not only do I make certain mistakes once, I’m prone to make them two, three, four times . . . or more.

I also learned that some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Am I advocating sloppiness? Of course not. What I do advocate is the freedom to make mistakes, accepting the fact that mistakes happen – and realizing if they do, it’s ok, because there’s always tomorrow.

There’s always tomorrow, and we can never have too much fun.

Today’s photo features Dakota and Mary Ellen Danuser enjoying their 14th Anniversary dinner at the Surf N Turf restaurant located at Canto Del Sol Resort and Tennis Club, Puerto Vallarta.

By the way, Mary Ellen and Dakota are retired military and “Seasoned Swirlers” who love to travel (they’re 50+!).

A Match Made In Sierra Leone And Beijing!

Sierra Leone native Neneh Ada Yang met her husband, renowned Chinese artist Yang Yan of Beijing, when he came to her country specifically looking for a BLACK woman to marry.

Within one week of meeting, they were married!

Yes.

Within. One. Week!

Note: This can happen when both persons:

Know themselves
Know what they want/don’t want in a mate.

Neneh has been featured in news articles too numerous to count. She was profiled by Lorraine Spencer on the Interracial Marriage and Family website in an article entitled, “China’s Black First Lady.”

Lorraine writes, “Neneh and her husband Yan are celebrities in China and of course she is loved in her home of Sierra Leone. Neneh’s foundation provided thousands of Ebola resistant, protective wear for healthcare workers and citizens.

Neneh has become fluent in Chinese since she lives in China. Her husband taught her art and now she has her own exhibitions as does her husband in various countries. Neneh also plays a rare instrument; a guqin, one of only a few in the world who mastered it in China.

She is a philanthropist and most importantly wife and mommy.”
