I Love Me Some Me! So, How Do You Like Me Now?

You know what happens when you like who you are and you’re comfortable in your own skin?

Relationships with other people become so much easier to manage.

You see, when you love you, your thinking is clearer and you possess the confidence to make decisions in your own best interest.

Saddled with a toxic friend, or recognize you’re in a relationship no longer serving you?

When you love you, walking away makes sense, and making excuses does not.

Being able to “keep it moving” becomes less of a chore and more of an imperative for your mental health and overall sense of well-being.

When you love you, you realize the word “No” is a complete sentence – no explanations required.

When you love you, excitement concerning the person you are fills your being.

Armed with knowledge of the higher, better person you’re evolving into fills you with a sense of anticipation.

All bets are off, because you’re expecting good days ahead.

Gone are the crippling doubts and paralyzing anxieties.

No, you’re not perfect, and you’re ok with that.

You love you, and you like the person you see in the mirror.

Ultimately, isn’t that all that matters?

We’re pursuing higher education.

We’re starting businesses. Per Fortune and Black Enterprise magazines, Black women are entering the entrepreneurial arena in record numbers.

The number of Black women entrepreneurs is high – and we know some of you are in the number! For this reason, expect more entrepreneur-related posts in 2017.

An Eclectic Swirling Single Of The Week!

Alicia Fleming is this week’s Swirler of the Week, and one word comes to mind to describe her: Eclectic.

This Girl Is Eclectic!

The word eclectic is defined as “deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources.”

Here’s how Alicia describes herself:

“I’m a lover of languages, traveling, wine tastings, jazz and otherwise. I’m also a museum junkie – I love museums such as art museums and museums of history.

I love to go to festivals, art shows and antiquing. I love dancing.

My musical taste is very eclectic…anything from Contemporary Country, R&B, Jazz to Neo Soul. I enjoy artists ranging from Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Maroon 5 and Usher, to Boney James and Jill Scott.

I also love Romantic comedies like Valentine’s Day, It’s Complicated, Think Like A Man. I also enjoy independent movies—Grand Budapest Hotel (this was a quirky comedy—I love those too). However, I will gladly go to see an action movie like The Expendables any day!

Saluting The Longevity of BW-WM Interracial Marriages!

All hail the longevity of interracial relationships between Black Women and White Men!

A Sweet Spot Called Longevity

Research indicates BW/WM interracial relationships enjoy a sweet spot called longevity.

That’s right – when it comes to interracial marriages, BW/WM combinations last longer.

A Case In Point

We have many examples of friends of The Swirl World we can point to (our friends Karla and Don immediately come to mind).

So, in celebration of the longevity of marriage, we salute our featured couple, Bryan and April French.

October 15 marked Bryan and April’s 24^th wedding anniversary.

April and Bryan have 3 sons who are just as gorgeous as they are:

April and Bryan’s beautiful 2-month old granddaughter is truly a living doll!

I recently had an opportunity to chat with April about spending 24 years with the love of her life. She told me about the secret sauce making her marriage successful.

This Black woman is so fancy, her friends call her “Miss Fanci!”

Say hello to Hester Beal, our fancy – and featured – Swirling Single of the Week!

Hester says:

My name is Hester; but most call me “Miss Fanci.” I am a 37-year-old Georgia Peach from Warner Robins, Georgia, home of the former Miss America.

I am the mother of a beautiful 2-year-old baby boy blessing. I’m not his biological mother, but I was there for his birth and he has been with me ever since.

I recently completed my Masters’ degree in Human Services/Life Coaching and Military Resilience Cognate. I absolutely love helping people, especially at-risk youth. My life has been centered around helping others.

I am single and never been married. I have traditional values, with God placed at the core.

I love to laugh. I love to cook. I love city lights. I’m excited to get out there and see what the world has to offer!

I am a 41-year-old single woman from the burbs. I have no children. I am a Regional HR Manager for a Security company.

I have been swirling for at least 10 years now.

Let’s see; my brand of humor is sarcasm but it’s all in fun.

I love sports (yes, even enjoy hockey…say what!) My CHICAGO BEARS and Jesus give me life.

I just moved into a new home so now my life consists of boxes and wondering where everything is!

She’s new to Swirling and excited about her decision to expand her dating and marriage options.

Meet Texas Beauty Michelle Culp

Greetings Swirlers!

My name is Michelle. I am a 48-year-old single parent to an AMAZING 23-year-old young man (always my baby).

I have been a public educator in the state of Texas for 16 years as well as an assistant administrator in a private facility. In both cases, I served individuals who face developmental, physical, emotional and behavioral challenges. I also mentor young women.

I’m the baby girl of my family. I am number 6 of 7 children. My parents were married for 62 years so my family is ginormous and I love celebrating life with them!

I grew up in a loving and religious home. I am God-fearing and God-loving. I’m also a PK (pastor’s kid) but I’m the good kind?.

My father is a retired United States Air Force veteran with over 20 years of service. My mother died last July. Everything I learned about love and about being a friend to man, I learned by her hand.

I am passionate and compassionate. Full disclosure: I have always put others first. I am now finally learning to make myself a priority.

Simple Pleasures Are The Best

I love simple pleasures and quiet moments. I love cooking and I cook exceptionally well (I get it from my Momma). However, I don’t cook as often because I am trying to eat healthier and workout.

I enjoy spending time with loved ones, reading, listening to music, attending live performances, and attending sporting events.

While I am still defining what I need and what I want in a relationship, I do know that I want the man for whom my soul longs. I want the man who guards my heart as though it were his own. I want the man who is intelligent, loving and kind with an awesome sense of humor.

I’m so excited to begin my Swirling journey. Here’s to new beginnings and new opportunities!

Zambian Beauty: Our Swirling Single Of The Week!

One such representative is Mubanga Kalimamukwento, our Swirling Single of the Week.

Meet This Zambian Beauty

Mubanga says,

“My name is Mubanga. I’m 28 and I’m a civil litigation lawyer.

I used to be a model (A long long long long time ago). I am now a single mum of two gorgeous boys after being married for 3 years. I am an only child after my baby sister died in 1996.

I love music, especially Zambian Music. I cook and bake a lot. I know a lot of people but I have few friends. I also love to read; I’ll read pretty much anything.

I am told I’m talkative and that I wear my heart on my sleeve (both are probably true, but I’ll try to deny it).

So, e ine (That’s so, that’s me. In Bemba.)”
