KarenMfunKaren Marsh, a fan of The Swirl World Facebook page and a member of The Swirl World’s private online group, chats about life, love and her must-haves in a mate.

Karen does not hold back, especially when she starts describing those “he’s gotta have it” characteristics.

We had a fun time with Karen.

She has a quiet, little girl voice, but don’t let her fool you!

#43| Simply Inspirational!

February 12, 2015 By Michelle Matthews-Calloway Leave a Comment

shareasimageKarlaF12F

I want to pause today from featuring our Swirling Singles to give a birthday shout out to one of the most inspirational women I know:

Happy Birthday, Karla!

Have you ever met someone who, when you’re asked to give your thoughts concerning them, one of the most robust descriptions you can give of them is:

Simply Inspirational!

Karla is warm, witty, and funny, and one of the most brilliant you would ever have the pleasure of meeting. She speaks from a place that is rooted in experience, truth and love – and she gives it straight, no chaser.

Karla is fairly active on interracial dating and marriage blogs and the wisdom and down home common sense in her posts will have you nodding your head in assent.

She’s a retired Navy officer who served her country well, and served – and yet does – as a shining role model for other women to follow.

I can’t say enough about her, and I’m honored and proud to call her Friend.

Karla, Happy Birthday. Thank you for being you, and thank you for selflessly serving as a source of inspiration and encouragement to me and countless others.

Enjoy your special day!

January 26, 2015 By Michelle Matthews-Calloway 1 Comment

Have you seen this video??

Or this one??

We saw the first video and became extremely curious.

We wondered: Who is this guy??

Thanks to clicking through to YouTube and reading the information from the profile superior research methods we discovered the mystery man is none other than California Conservation Corps Crew Manager John Griffith.

John is committed to diversity in the conservation and environmentalism movements – and guess what else?

He’s a Swirler! Woot Woot

We contacted John and he graciously consented to an interview.

John leads a very interesting life! In addition to working in the Corps, he’s the author of Totem Magic: Going MAD, a book about 6th graders with magical powers who help the world’s endangered species.

John is so committed to conservation, 100% of the proceeds from book sales are donated to conservation and environmental groups.

We’re happy to report that talking to John is just as fun, informative and entertaining as looking at the videos on his YouTube channel.

Give a listen to our convo with John Griffith – aka “White Boy Fresh.”

He’s hilarious!

Teria and Adrienne discuss holistic medicine, life, love – and the Brit who stole Teria’s heart.

Podcast 052: The Power Of Black Women’s Preferences–And Images

January 10, 2015 By Michelle Matthews-Calloway Leave a Comment

shareasimageSepia

So, at the end of 2014 in Podcast Episode 049 we gave you a sneak peek into a podcast with Sepia, author of multicultural and multiracial erotic romance.

Sepia just released a new book entitled Prescriptions For the Soul: 100+ Dosages of Daily Wisdom, available for immediate download on Kindle (if you want a paperback copy email her at one of the addresses provided below). Prescriptions is published under her pen name, B.B. Fortune.

Prescriptions For The Soul

Sepia has several interracial romance novellas scheduled for release in the Coffee and Cream series in 2015. They will be followed with another series of novellas called Green Tea and Chocolate specializing in interracial romance between Black women and Asian men.

We discussed the power of Black women exerting their personal preference for the race or ethnicity of the men they want to date and marry. Who are these people who believe they have to right to dictate Black women’s choices?? Pfffft!

We also branched into a conversation about the power derived from seeing positive images of Black women being celebrated and loved. We appreciate seeing the visual forms, and salute those who positively portray Black women in books, blog posts and articles.

Sepia is brilliant, funny and passionate about Black women living well. What a wonderful conversation!

(If you can’t see the podcast player, click here or here).

To listen on Sound Cloud, click here.

shareasimage_SexyIRCouple3Sepia is a huge supporter of interracial/multicultural romance erotica. Being the product of a multicultural marriage she understands that love is not always black and white (no pun intended!) but that people need and want love and sometimes that takes them across cultural and racial lines.

Coming from a family of Griots (storytellers) her desire is to entertain her readers with humor, wit and lots of love woven into her stories.

A native of New York, Sepia currently resides in Southern California. Her passion is to uplift and encourage others through her writing, teaching and speaking.

Contact Sepia by emailing her at irromancebysepia@gmail.com.

Unscripted: Beware The Iron Snowflake!

January 5, 2015 By Michelle Matthews-Calloway 1 Comment

shareasimage_IronSnowflakeF

Sometimes you just have things on your mind and heart.

You encounter people, circumstances, and issues, and you wind up pondering on those subjects and mulling them over in your mind.

Oftentimes the “mulling things over” spills out and you just have to say something.

In our first podcast of 2015, Co-Host Adrienne London Leach goes totally unscripted and discusses The Iron Snowflake. Adrienne gives a shout out to swirling pioneer Lorraine Spencer, aka “Swirl Queen, of the popular blog Interracial Marriage and Family.

(Lorraine wrote an outstanding blog post on the subject. To read Lorraine’s take on the phenomenon of The Iron Snowflake, click here.)

Do you have an Iron Snowflake in your life?

In the podcast, Adrienne tells you how to recognize – and melt – the Iron Snowflake.
