Do you have a “Theme Song?” You know, the song you believe personifies your philosophy of life, contains your mantra, and gives you an immediate lift every time you sing it?
Since the day I heard it, the song “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Kahn has given me life. I can do it all, be it all, have it all, _______________ it all – you name it, I’m it.
Whelp, sometimes I have to sing that song to myself when I feel down, or tired, or not-quite-as-invincible as I’d like. Tonight is one of those times – not because life sucks right now, but more so because I’m extremely sleep deprived.
I’m going to let the imitable Chaka Kahn speak for me tonight, and I’ll hit you guys up tomorrow.

(Whitney’s version is pretty sweet, too!)

Karla,
I like that. I tend to be that way when I’m making selections regarding the music I’m going to listen to during my drives. There’s definitely a mood behind the cd or tune I select. Thanks for sharing those – I’m going to use them to make a playlist!
FDLOL! Love it! I can imagine the expression on Bee’s face. (and yes, I pull up next to people like you all the time – hilarious)!
I change songs with the wind. It depends on what I’m doing or how I’m feeling. When I feel frustrated or can’t find a solution to some issue, I like “Primal Scream” by Motley Crue. When I need a boost or shot of confidence, I like “I Won’t Back Down” by Pink. If something has happened and I need to regroup, I like “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John. There’s a different song for everything.
I dont know about a personal theme song, but my song for myself and my beloved Honey Bee is “Drive By” by Train. I sing it to her all the time. OK, I sing almost everything to her.. yes, I am one of those people who sing (usually at the top of my lungs and “dancing”) in the car. you know the ones. you have stopped at a red light beside me… anyway, that song is my “anthem” to her.
