Some people find cleaning house to be therapeutic.
Unpacking had the same effect on me today.
I decided to take a break from everything and just about everybody.
No emails, no TV, no Twitter feeds and no Facebook.
Just church with my Dad, a good visit with he and my Mother, and then heading back to my new place to unpack.
Sometimes you have to get away from the clamour and just decompress.
Everybody seems to want to give their .02.
Today, I let them keep it.

Kieta,
A djembe drum – how novel! I love that idea – I can see how tapping into your “Inner creative child” will make you joyful and peaceful. (I am LOL’ing at the visual! LOVE it!)
You’re right; unpacking is a bit overwhelming. I’m actually feeling a bit of sadness. At first I couldn’t put my finger on why, but then I realized my mind and heart register this as a familiar place for more reasons than one. I’m planning a blog post on it this week. 🙂

While there are tons of things that can help me get space and clarity (none of which are running or cleaning) one of my new favorites is taking out this drum I got from a second hand store. It’s a djembe so I don’t need sticks. I haven’t taken any lessons, I just sit down and tap away on it like a little kid. I don’t try to be good or rhythmical, just calm and joyful. I know not everyone has a djembe laying around but just about any hard! surface will do. Happy unpacking. I know it can feel overwhelming to look at lots of boxes awaiting your attention but it’s also nice to have a fresh start on choosing where things go/how they look. Have fun with it. 🙂

Hey Jeff,
I’m about 50 minutes to an hour away; depending on the traffic. Aout 48 miles.
